Address self-awareness, values, confidence, trust, communication, judgment, conflict management, empowering others, team building as well as managing saboteur and limiting assumptions and beliefs. Facilitate Sensitivity Training covering professionalism, respect, bullying, diversity and workplace communication.
Physician Leadership Development Program
One of four executive coaches recruited to provide individual and group coaching to support physician leadership development. Guided physicians to complete and present complex action learning projects designed to positively impact the healthcare sector. Offered through the Schulich Executive Education Centre in partnership with the Canadian Medical Association and the Ontario Medical Association, 150 Ontario physicians graduated, some of whom I continue to coach.
Leading Better Care Development Program
High impact leadership coach for Scottish nursing, midwifery and community team leaders for nationally funded strategic initiative of the Scottish government. Focus on individual transformation and systems impact through authentic, strengths based, collaborative leadership approach. Facilitated Glasgow program launch encompassing self-awareness / team building activities followed by six month individual, group coaching and reporting on coaching outcomes.
Organizational & Governance Reviews
Conducted extensive organizational review for 45,000 member association encompassing 30 interviews followed up by participatory decision making sessions to inform recommendations. Resulted in an updated structure, improved communication and engagement across all employee levels. Led similar governance review to address officer roles and responsibilities, structure, representation / diversity, remuneration, board development and recruitment.
Foundation Governance, Strategy & Leadership
Handpicked to develop a new strategic positioning and growth plan for the Foundation and requested by founder to stay on as first Executive Director to lay the operating foundation, develop governance policies and bring the plan to life. Established the first board of directors including roles and responsibilities, and drove new marketing, communication and special event efforts that tripled the membership and increased funds raised by 100% over the previous year.
Public Education Strategy & Positioning
Taking the approach that an informed and empowered member is able to act in their own and the community’s best interest, conducted initial background research including one on one interviews with patient relations committee and created SWOT analysis to set the foundation for a full day strategic planning session. Engaged multiple stakeholders to inform the creation of a new five year public education strategy, updated tagline, logo and fresh positioning for advertising campaign.
Spearheaded six-month in depth research and assessment of membership, board member fundraising, youth and sponsorship programs. Created discussion guide and conducted interviews with food industry / other stakeholders, ultimately making recommendations to meet community outreach and growth targets. Food Allergy Canada (formerly Anaphylaxis Canada) educates, supports and advocates for the needs of people living with food allergies and the risk of anaphylaxis.
Values Based Strategic Planning
Facilitated two-day workshop for a leading Canadian post-secondary educational institution. Encompassed self-awareness, individual values discovery, alignment with organizational values, team building and planning as follow up to individual interviews and SWOT analysis. Culminated in creation of strategic plan to revitalize an innovation hub / department empowered by shared values and ownership versus buy in to responsibilities and quantifiable outcomes.
